According to Shannon Becker, PhD RA, the current viral epidemic is caused by an enveloped virus, similar to the influenza A virus (IAV). Essential oils and blends may be used to complement current vaccines, assisting with respiratory relief, psychological support, and infection-fighting benefits.

The essential oil blends in this category assist in relieving respiratory symptoms. One or two drops of the respiratory blends in this category can be placed on mask, moustache or tongue to help protect against communicable diseases. The blends can also be inhaled (diffuser, spritzer, hot water inhalation) or diluted for topical application (90% carrier with 10% essential oils). For topical applications of antiviral oils & blends as a chestrub to relieve congestion, we suggest Olive Oil, Jojoba, Black Cumin, or Camelina sativa seed oil, which works well in a 90%-10% dilution with any of the above essential oil combinations.

Most frequently recommended blends are Power of Protection aka Thieves, Best Defense, EZ Breathing, Bronchitis Fighter, Flu Fighter, Immune & Intune, Disinfectant Household Cleanser Supreme, Viral Fighter, On Guard aka Oh So Good, and Water/Air Purifier.
