Kaffir Lime Essential Oil (Rutaeceae family) is an aldehyde with strong lemon-like odor, frequently used in cosmetics and natural perfumes. The main constituent is citronellal (around 70%), followed by citronellol, nerol and limonene.
It has strong antifungal qualities, also antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial. Citronellal is an effective insect repellant, a high repellant against mosquitoes lasting up to 1-1/2 hours.

Precautions: Aldehydes are skin irritants, and therefore should be diluted before use -- either quenched with a citrus, blended together with other essential oils, or diluted (about 7-8 drops per oz) in carrier oil or cream.
