Antimicrobial  Essential Oils Effective Against MRSA Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

We have been asked to provide information and recommendations regarding the use of essential oils as a natural preventative and treatment for antibiotic-resistant staph infections (MRSA).  ABC News noted that MRSA is now resistant to between 15 and 30 different antibiotics, and the superbug can quickly go from a skin infection to deadly pneumonia or blood or bone infection.  100,000 people die of hospital acquired infections in America every year.  More than 50% of staph infections in hospitals are caused from MRSA.  MRSA causes meningitis, toxic shock, pneumonia, and other skin and tissue infections.  Recent research indicates that essential oils can provide effective treatment in cleaning solutions, skin applications, body and environmental water spritzers, and air diffusers.  Recent research findings, indicate that the best staph and other anti-microbial killers are tea tree with geranium; geranium with lemongrass; Montana savory, Rosemary and Tea Tree; oregano; thyme; and to a lesser extent Peppermint, Caraway and Fennel.  We also carry Kanuka and Manuka (New Zealand Tea Trees), both of which are frequently used worldwide in hospitals due to their very powerful antibacterial capacities.We also carry Blue Ginger Lily (Kaempheria galanga oil CO2), which has important antifungal and antibacterial capacities and is effective for many resistant skin conditions.

All the above individual oils are available from Earth Angel Oils, and we have carefully chosen the most effective varieties available.  For instance, our Oregano was chosen because of its high level of Carvacrol (73%).  Some of these oils are very powerful and should be used sparingly, in very small proportions, using gentle oils for dilution.  Pleae refer to our individual oil section for additional information regarding a particular oil or contact us with any questions you have.
